Welcome to Elk Books

Every story has a beginning…

Elk Books is a little bookshop close to the shore front in the beautiful County Down town of Warrenpoint. At Elk Books we celebrate Ireland’s rich literary heritage, wonderful authors, poets and artists and the beautiful area of the Mournes and Cooley peninsula. Our ambition is to encourage a community of readers, to explore, live and know the world through the stories we share. Elk Books selection aims to reflect the expansive world of books. As we are a general bookshop, we encourage readers to discover new and diverse voices too. And for younger readers, we’re working on the Little Elks Book Nook, an area in the shop dedicated to readers from early years to 11+. Elk Books will also build on a collection of books As Gaeilge, celebrating writing in the Irish Language

So, please connect with us, we’re looking forward to hearing from you!

Daring in its simplicity this is a small but perfect book, not a word or sentence is out of place. The minute I finished reading it, I immediately turned to begin reading it again, which only happens with rare books but such is the power of John MacKenna’s writing and visual imagery
